Alexandrina Cheese Company is just out of Mount Compass on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The drive is lovely with many animals for the kids to spot along the way.
Once you arrive you will be welcomed by a large tin cow, this was the first thing that got my kids excited about our destination. After they had stopped playing around the cow, they discovered the large pictures of a cow and farmers that they could put their faces in for a photo, they thought this was pretty exciting too!
Once I had managed to get the kids inside we ordered milkshakes and a cheese platter. The staff were very accommodating and happy to split one milkshake into 2 cups for my kids to share.
We sat inside because it was very hot on the day we visited, but there were tables outside and a nice grassed area that the kids could run around on. There are also high chairs available and a large toilet with a change table.
The cheese platter was divine and featured a collection of the cheeses made by Alexandrina Cheese and other local produce. You can also purchase Tea & Coffee, Cheesecake, Scones and Ice-creams and there are 13 different flavours of milkshake to try.
Whilst here you can also see the cheese factory in operation, try some samples of cheese and purchase some yummy goodies to take home.
This is a great place to visit for morning or afternoon tea or a light lunch and somewhere that’s a little bit different than a standard café. I think its well worth a visit and am looking forward to going back again soon.
