Pirate Festivals and events are held all around the globe to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLPD) on September 19.

The “Pirates of Port Adelaide” will invade the Port Adelaide Town Centre over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of September and families from around the state are most welcome to join in. Good pirates, scary pirates, happy pirates, little pirates and even big scoundrels; dog pirates, parrots, dolphins and mermaids will all be part in the invasion.

The businesses of Port Adelaide are pulling out all stops to make this a fabulous family weekend and have mapped where the hidden treasure is to be found and X marks the spot!

Giant Treasure Hunt – take your crew on a family-friendly adventure in the FREE Gigantic Treasure Hunt. Heave Ho! Walk, ride, or run around the historic Port for a chance to win a share of the pirate bounty from the Treasure Chest of prizes!

Plus there’s lots of other Pirate Fun! Port Mall Kids Dress Up Competition and Pirate Disco; FREE Pirate bouncy castle; FREE facepainting; FREE air-brush pirate tattoos; Pirate food stalls, music and buskers; market stalls; visit the pirate ships as they sail in to Lighthouse Square; Wild at Hart Markets; EFM ‘race for the treasure’ boot camp; plus lots more Pirate Shenanigans!

For the adults there’s a Pirate Scoundrels ‘after-dark’ Treasure Hunt on Saturday night – for this you’ll need a smart phone and an eye patch!

So, bring your peg leg, put on a Pirate Hat and visit the Port the weekend of 19 & 20 September, dressed as pirates, for lots of Pirate fun.
